Parents

I believe parents have a right to be included in major decisions within the school when it affects their child. I am strongly opposed to the new 2025 legislation from Olympia that gives the rights of the school district to withhold critical information from parents for up to 48 hours. 

I believe that all anti-bullying policies need to be upheld and that both students and administrators need to be held accountable to those policies. Every child has the right to feel safe when entering their school. Let's bring back common sense discipline when repeated harassment and bullying has been proven. 

Let's focus our school districts funding on increasing educational programs, increasing hands-on learning opportunities and technical programs. Preparing our children for their future whether that be a pathway to university, technical school or simply being employable at the time of graduation. Who remembers auto-mechanics class? 

Strive for academic excellence with a curriculum that challenges and supports our students. Social issues are important but if we want our children to be competitive with other students around the world we need to be focused on subjects such as Mathematics, Language Arts, History, and the Sciences. 

I believe our schools need to reflect the communities that they serve. Let's get creative and find solutions here at home to our local issues. Let's think outside the box and stand up for a strong education system that we can be proud of.  

Communication needs to be a top priority for the WV school board to its parents and community members. Too many times parents are saying they are left out of the conversation or that their inquiries go unheard and ignored. Let's improve parental involvement and make sure that they are included in the conversation. 

I will always be a loud advocate for keeping and protecting the privacy and safety of our girls in both school and in their athletic events. Our country fought long and hard for women's rights and I will fight everyday to ensure that those rights are not lost.
